What should we do when we ask Jesus for help and He doesn’t respond the way we expect? In Luke 9:37–43, a desperate father brings his suffering son to Jesus after the disciples have already tried—and failed—to help him. The father keeps asking because he still believes Jesus can heal, restore, and rescue. But Jesus’ response is surprising. His words sound frustrated—even harsh. It’s a difficult passage that raises difficult questions about faith, prayer, healing, suffering, and what we should expect from God. In this message from the Gospel of Luke, we wrestle honestly with those questions. Following Jesus doesn’t mean having an easy explanation for everything God does—or doesn’t do.
