In Luke 9:28–36, Peter, James, and John get a glimpse behind the curtain. On a mountain, Jesus is transfigured before them—His appearance changes, Moses and Elijah appear, and the voice of God declares: “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” But the Transfiguration isn’t just a strange supernatural story. Drawing on images and stories from throughout Scripture, Luke reveals more about Jesus’ true identity—and points toward His coming death and resurrection in Jerusalem. And God’s message to the disciples becomes an invitation for us: Listen to Jesus. And then do what He says.
