Answers to Your Questions

Some quick answers to some frequently asked questions.

What is Arise?

Arise is a casual, mere Christian church located in Fenton, Missouri (part of the St. Louis metro area). We're a church that's full of imperfect people trying to follow Jesus together. We proclaim the Good News of Jesus to a hurting world. And we worship, serve, pray, and do life together.

We’re all about being a community of conversation and growth--especially for those on the fringes of faith. So if you're looking for a community where you can ask questions, develop friendships, make a difference in our world, and be part of a family, come check us out!

Where and When Do You Meet?

We meet Sunday mornings at 8:30 AM and 10AM at 639 Gravois Bluffs Blvd, Suite I, Fenton, MO, 63026.

Anyone is welcome. Just come as you are. Expect to see lots of people in t-shirts and jeans, drinking coffee, hanging out, worshiping God together, and learning about loving God and loving people. Also, there will be tons of kids running around, so watch out. Click below to plan your first visit to Arise!

What Do You Believe?

We believe biblical and historical mere Christianity as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed. This is what we like to call "mere Christianity," where we focus on the core of Christian faith but refuse to divide over aspects of faith and life that we view differently. Click below to learn more about what we believe, including our explanation of mere Christianity.

Why Another Church?

There are already a lot of churches in the world, so why one more?

That's a great question. And it has many answers. But some of the key reasons include the fact that we believe that Jesus makes a difference--in your life, with your relationships, in our community, and for our world. And we want more people to experience Jesus and follow Him. He brings hope and peace when the world seems to be crumbling, and we want more people to experience Him!

We also think that our world suffers from growing division and the failure of people to think differently about things to get along. At Arise, we're about bridging those gaps, having those conversations, and growing together. It's not always easy, but we truly value the kind of authentic community and engaging conversation that can lead to spiritual transformation.

What's With the Name?

Like other names, church names communicate something about identity: it's a core part of who we are. The name Arise comes from two passages from the Bible:

“Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”

Ephesians 5:14, ESV

"Arise, Lord! Lift up your hand, O God. Do not forget the helpless."

Psalm 10:12, NIV

Our name thus has a double meaning. It's a command to us, to get up, do what God has called us to do, and follow Jesus. But it's also a prayer to God, a request that He'll show up in our community and in our world. The name (and our logo) also reflect the origins of Arise, which was planted by Rooftop Church.

Are You Part of a Denomination?

Arise is a non-denominational church, which means we don't have a specific affiliation with any Christian denomination. More than that, though, Arise is a "mere Christian church," where we focus on the core of following Jesus but welcome those with many differing theological particulars. We learned this approach from our planting church, Rooftop Church in Affton, MO. We're also affiliated with the Church Multiplication Network, which assisted our efforts to begin as a church.

What About My Family?

We love families and want to do everything we can to encourage and support your family life! We take seriously our responsibility of lovingly sharing God’s truth with your kids and teens. Because of that, Arise provides a number of opportunities for kids and teens, on Sunday mornings and throughout the week. Click below to learn more.

What About During the Week?

Following Jesus isn't just something we do on Sunday. It's a 7 days a week, 365 days a year commitment. To help you along the journey, we've got all sorts of way to stay connected and continuing growing throughout the week.
